I recently completed the 200-hour teaching immersion at the Dharma Yoga Center in NYC, and it was an incredible experience. The studio is stunning, with a bright yellow and gold room that exudes positive energy from every corner, making me feel comfortable the moment I walked in. The staff and mentors were some of the most wonderful people I've ever met—kind, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. During my two weeks there, we participated in public classes, which was an exciting opportunity. The room was electrified with energy whenever Sir Dharma Mitra taught. His spiritual lectures were engaging and insightful, reflecting his deep connection to his practice and years of learning. He communicates with a personable style and a delightful sense of humor, reminding us not to take ourselves too seriously. Remarkably, he often answered our questions intuitively, as if he could sense what we needed to know. The experience was so powerful that it was difficult to return to everyday life. I cannot wait to return to the studio and immerse myself in its spiritual atmosphere again. I also hope to continue my learning and pursue a 500-hour teacher training in the future. The people and the experience were truly remarkable, and words cannot fully capture the essence of it.

Jul 31, 2024 · Emily BoyerWhy the Dharma Training? My experience from the 200hour Dharma Teacher Training in 2024: It is one of the very few worldwide trainings with an authentic Guru! The program is very extensive and includes next to the general Yoga Teachings also special Classes such as Partner Yoga, Cooking course and Psychic Development. The Teachers as Karmic Yogis; they are very understanding, no matter what emotion you are going through. They hold a safe space to do your work. The Studio Manager is very considerate. Everyday during my Training, she organised a small treat during the breaks. The studio has the most beautiful Shala that I have ever seen. It looks golden like a temple, with beautiful paintings and ornaments even at the ceiling. So no matter in which asana you are, you can be inspired. The Shala is also treatened like a temple. Every blanket has been folded by love and placed neatly in the shelfs. All over, it is very clean and feels like home. There is a lot of equipment at the studio. The cushions, blankets etc. are all high quality and various. You will learn to use a Dharma Wheel. Its was mind-blowing chest-opening for me. Dharma teaches you tricks for specifically difficult asanas. Dharma has a very deep understanding of Karma. You think you understand Karma? Come there and listen to Dharma… This is a very devotional Teacher Training. You will grow into making yoga a self-less act. I loved the music in Dharmas Classes. Everything about his Classes is very happy - the energy, his jokes and the music.
Mar 09, 2024 · Joyce D.I first discovered Dharma Yoga through my teacher Christian at Hot Yoga Malmö, where I immediately connected with the depth and transformative power of the practice. After a month-long Dharma Yoga workshop, I realized I wanted to immerse myself further in this path, which led me to the teacher training in New York City. I went with an open heart but limited experience, not knowing fully what to expect. Though I had heard much about Dharma Yoga, I hadn't watched videos or taken classes with the NYC studio beforehand. Stepping into that training opened up an entirely new world for me—one filled with profound wisdom and kindness. The teacher training was so much more than learning Asana or memorizing texts. It was about life experiences, testimonies, and understanding how to live as a Yogi in every sense of the word. Sri Dharma Mittra, the founder, is a humble, compassionate being whose wisdom and Asana practice is unmatched. I was privileged to learn not just from him but from incredible teachers like Pam, Lyn, Andrew, Jonathan, Britney, and others. Each brought their unique experiences and voices, yet all carried forward Dharma’s message of compassion and selflessness. Their ability to connect with us on a personal level made the teachings deeply meaningful. Through them, I felt the true essence of Dharma’s teachings, enriched with their own perspectives. Throughout the training, I found myself in a continuous state of learning—from Asana, philosophy, and anatomy to pranayama, Ayurvedic cooking, and the philosophy of living compassionately. It was both challenging and rewarding, pushing me to grow not only as a practitioner but as a person. The Dharma Yoga Center itself was a source of immense support, allowing me to focus fully on the training, for which I am eternally grateful. Dharma Yoga is not merely about physical poses; it’s a way of life. It instils resilience, kindness, and purpose, enabling one to better serve themselves and humanity. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been part of this transformative training and to have experienced firsthand the profound teachings of Sri Dharma and his wonderful team of teachers. My journey has only begun, and I look forward to continuing to walk this path with a deep sense of gratitude and openness.
Nov 05, 2024 · Máximo CastelliThe real deal of Yoga in my favorite place on the planet. I’m truly blessed and for ever grateful to be a Dharma Yoga practitioner and teacher for over 15 years. I’m graduating soon for my 700 hr DY LOAY TT. So, not only I’m getting to practice the real deal of Yoga, but I also get to share the true spiritual wisdom that Sri Dharma Mittra reflects. As a true Master he helps us all to understand and guides us on the path of Yoga, with the goal of Self Realization. I highly recommend to try out a class with Sri Dharma Mittra himself or any of the amazing teachers at the center! It might be a life changing experience, like it was for me in 2007:) Hari OM! Nov 04, 2024 · Michael WagnerI couldn't make to any of the Dharma's class because my appointments crashed with his schedule. So I arranged a private yoga session with their instructor Azusa, which she took good care of me and taught me well. Ive exchanged more than 10 emails with front desk and the director of Dharma Yoga weeks ago before I came visit about having the private yoga session. After the class they suddenly cut it short from 90 mins to 60 mins and blamed it on the teacher and said she had engagement. They didnt notify me before class so I asked for a refund nicely and they said 60 min private and 90 private would charge the same. I had a call with the director directly and she wasn't too nice and responded with what would you want us to charge, I asked how much you want to charge? she said whatever you want without apologizing. I am sure many students would come because of dharma, but i strongly recommend anyone not to private class there because of the poor customer service. This is the worst experience I have ever had since practicing Yoga.
